The Preschool Speech and Language program offers assessment and intervention for preschool-aged children with speech and language delays. If you are concerned about your child’s speech and language development, you can refer to the City of Toronto’s speech and language checklist.
Helping your child thrive
For children ages 0 to junior kindergarten
- Assessment by a speech language pathologist to determine any delays, in English or whichever language is their first language.
- Recommendations may be made to other services or professionals to support language development.
- Consultation and training for parents and caregivers to assist in language development at home.
- Group or individual therapy sessions based on their speech and language goals, delivered by communicative disorders assistants and speech language pathologists.
- Once a child is ready to enter junior kindergarten, referrals for speech and language services are made through the school.

Please note that registrations for Preschool Speech and Language are made through Surrey Place, one of our partner agencies. Macaulay is one of five agencies providing this service in Toronto. Your referral will be automatically directed to the closest agency, based on your postal code.
Surrey Place requires a referral for the program, but don’t worry: parents can make a referral. Macaulay staff can help you as well.
